Perform A Cililized Act Teach A Friend To Shoot
Gun Issues
Image may contain: one or more people and text

Carrying a Gun Is a Civilized Act

When you carry a gun, you don't do so because you are looking for a fight, but because you are looking to be left alone. The gun at your side means that you cannot be forced, only persuaded. You don't carry it because you are afraid, but because it enables you to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

The American Jews that demand that you sin
Gun Issues the man who refuses to defend his family and his community is a man in sin!

As the Jews in Germany sealed their fate under Hitler's Germany, making themselves a part of a blended German society

These American Jews wish to seal your fate, their fellow Jews fate, and their own fate.

These American Jews want so much to be a blended society, to create a blended society  but fail to acknowledge history. They fail to acknowledge the Jews efforts of the past to be part of a blended society always resulted in their becoming victims of their attitude  of moral superiority for calling for a blended society.

This is explained below

These Jews views on a blended society are a liberalism that effects these Jews that are a part of mainstream Democratic party politics. These Democrat’s politics and their marxist media's organs eternal search for the 'liberation' from morality; God's seemingly restrictive rules. Rules that are nothing but impediments to Democratic political success. There are those who will always seek – or if necessary, create the escape hatch [ethics] through which those who find God's moral rules too limiting can flee. Liberalism, under many different names, has always found eager converts and is a very strong lure of the devils. Democrats and their Standard Bearer Barack Obama follow the marxist ideology of Saul Alinsky. Asinsky's ideology is expressed in his own words in the dedication of his book, "Rules for Radicals", to Lucifer is easily understood; as a champion of amorality and the abandonment of ethics as nothing more than props that sustain the status quo Lucifer is the perfect model of the destroyer for the activist Alinsky. The fact that our top democratic and RINO political leadership has embraced this amoral set of tactics for political gain should cause all Americans concern.

Furthermore, this editor believes that Democrats and the Jews in the American Congress tend to be liberal because they choose to empathize with downtrodden people simply because they assume liberalism to be a kinder, gentler philosophy than conservatism. This leads to a feeling of moral superiority." This has always led the Jew to be a victim of his own abandonment of GOD’s rules of self defense.

Both the Old and New Testaments teach individual self-defense, even if it means taking the assailant's life in certain circumstances. This is not murder, which is prohibited by the sixth commandment. (Exodus 20:13)
Yet it is written, "...But now, he who has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a sack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one" (Luke 22:36). Consider that the sword was the finest offensive weapon available to an individual -- the equivalent then of a military rifle today.

Exodus 22:2-3 tells us: "If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft."

One conclusion which can be drawn from this is that a threat to our life can be met with lethal force. After "the sun has risen" seems to refer to a different judgment than the one permitted at night. At night it is more difficult to discern whether the intruder is a thief or a murderer. Furthermore, the nighttime makes it more difficult to defend oneself and to avoid killing the thief at the same time. During the daytime, it had better be clear that one's life was in danger, otherwise, defense becomes vengeance, and vengeance belongs to God.

In Proverbs 25:26, we read: "A righteous man who falters before the wicked is like a murky spring and a polluted well." Certainly, we would be faltering before the wicked if we chose to be unarmed and unable to resist an assailant who might be threatening our life. In other words, we have no right to hand over our life, which is a gift from God, to the unrighteous. It is a serious mistake to equate a civilized society with one in which the decent people are doormats for the evil to trample on.

God expects us to defend ourselves, otherwise why would He speak to us through the psalm, "Blessed be the Lord my strength, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle" (Ps. 144:1).

Those who trust God should also make adequate provision for their own defense even as we are instructed in the passages cited above. For a man to refuse to provide adequately for his and his family's defense would be to defy God. 1 Timothy 5:8 tells us: "But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." For a man to provide shelter, food, clothing, money, and so forth is quite fine, but the man who refuses to defend his family and his community is a man in sin!

DEL. TAYLOR'S FIRST TWO BILLS
BREEZED THROUGH SUBCOMMITTEE

RICHMOND - Two important bills introduced by Delegate Scott Taylor, R-Virginia Beach,  sailed through subcommittee on Monday.

HB 90 allows a member of the Virginia National Guard to carry a concealed handgun at National Guard facilities, if the member has a valid concealed-handgun permit.  "As we have witnessed, our recruiting centers have become targets, so it absolutely makes sense to allow our service members to protect themselves," said Del. Taylor.

HB 90 also provides that the commanding officer may prohibit members from carrying concealed weapons during training or other exercises when determined that the weapon would interfere. HB 90, referred to the Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety, was reported out of subcommittee 4-1.

HB 220 (Virginia FOIA) allows public access to resumes and other information related to gubernatorial appointees. The bill provides that resumes and applications submitted by persons who are appointed by the governor shall be available to the public upon request. Delegate Taylor stated, "The public has a right to know who the people are effecting our policy or regulations."

Some background on HB 220 can be found in this article from The Virginian-Pilot. The bill, referred to the Committee on General Laws, was unanimously reported out of subcommittee.

"I'm very pleased that two of my bills easily cleared the first hurdle in the process of becoming laws," said Taylor. "These bills deal with two things on which I'm focused: transparency and protecting those who protect us."

Gun rights lawsuit filed in Georgia
Gun Issues

Second Amendment: Georgia Dad Sues Over Right To Take Gun To School

gun lawsuit

A Georgia dad is suing his daughter’s school over his Second Amendment right to take a gun onto campus. Beulah Elementary School parent Hugh Myers was told that he would be placed under arrest if he took a gun on school grounds other than when picking up or dropping of his daughter. A new Georgia gun law which took effect last month permits registered gun owners to carry a gun at schools.

Hugh Meyers’ attorney, John Monroe, maintains that the Douglasville dad has every right to take his legal gun to Beulah Elementary School. The Second Amendment lawsuit against the school states that the Georgia man often goes onto school ground to attend his daughter’s educational activities. He wants to exercise his right to carry a gun to the elementary school in case of a confrontation, as state law now allows. The attorney said that he believes the Hugh Myers gun lawsuit is the first of its type in Georgia, but due to the new gun law, he feels it may not be the last.

The Beulah Elementary School principal declined to comment on the gun lawsuit filed against the school, noting the issue is now an ongoing legal matter. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, a Republican, signed the gun bill into law amid controversy. Gun rights activists gathered with supportive state lawmakers for the signing and applauded the law as a worthy self-defense and school safety measure.

The new Georgia gun law permits individuals with a license to carry a firearm to take a gun into some government buildings which do not have specific security guidelines, such as metal detectors and guards. Guns are now allowed inside bars without restriction by individuals who are not consuming alcohol.

The new statute also allows religious leaders to determine whether or not a person with a gun carry license to take a weapon into a place of worship. School districts are also free to permit staffers to carry a gun on campus under outlined conditions.

The Safe Carry Protection Act has been dubbed the “guns everywhere” law by critics. Second Amendment advocates are quick to note that criminals already take guns everywhere, and the posting of a “Gun Free Zone” signs simply makes those inside such a facility nothing more than defenseless targets. The law applies to Georgia citizens who are licensed to carry and visitors from 28 others states which have firearms reciprocity with the state.

What do you think about the guns in school lawsuit filed in Georgia by Hugh Myers?

For Obama, McAuliffe takes away self protection rights
Gun Issues

Virginia carpet bagging marxist governor McAuliffe takes away self protection rights and which will permit Obama's sons and daughters and their fellow moslems to attack you, steal from you, and rape  without the ability to defend yourself.

Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) has used his first veto on House Bill 962, an uncontroversial bill to codify an Attorney General opinion from 2012 (see here) and a decision of the Virginia Court of Appeals last year, Doulgerakis v. Com., 737 S.E.2d 40 (Va. Ct. App. 2013).

Sponsored by Delegate Ben Cline (R-24), HB 962 would have made Virginia law consistent with the Attorney General opinion and the Virginia Court of Appeals decision, which both found that a handgun in a vehicle does not have to be in a locked compartment in the motor vehicle to fit within a statutory exception to the concealed carry prohibition that allows for a person without a permit to conceal a firearm within a secured compartment or “secured” container within a motor vehicle.  HB 962 passed in the House of Delegates by a 70-27 vote on January 22 and passed in the Senate by a 27-13 vote on February 17.

As originally introduced, HB 962 would have made a simple clarification to an already existing law, by clarifying how and where gun owners could transport firearms in their vehicles.  However, McAuliffe attempted to amend this bill into legislation that would have been worse than current law when he offered a Governor’s amendment.  If adopted, the McAuliffe amendment would have contradicted the Attorney General opinion and Virginia Court of Appeals ruling by forcing drivers to keep firearms in a “locked” container rather than being allowed to secure those firearms in a container without a lock, as they have lawfully been doing for years.  The Governor’s amendment was defeated by a 30-70 vote in the House of Delegates on March 7.

This veto does nothing to change current law – storing a loaded handgun in a secure compartment or container in a vehicle still remains legal for all gun owners.  Not only was Governor McAuliffe’s veto an anti-gun action, it was also gratuitous.  Terry McAuliffe is clearly out of touch with Virginia gun owners, and it is disappointing to see him exercise his first veto on an uncontroversial bill backed by an Attorney General opinion and a Court of Appeals decision.  As always, your NRA-ILA will be standing guard in Virginia to ensure your Second Amendment freedoms are protected, and will be closely monitoring any additional attempts by McAuliffe to infringe on your rights in Richmond.

The opinion of this Editor is this law was not necessary and the issue had been clearly decided by the Virginia Court of Appeals see the case below.  It also appears to this Editor that the legislator who introduced it did so in an effort to take away a right given by the legislature and affirmed by the Virginia Court of appeals.  It seems the Delegate that sponsored this bill has/had a hidden agenda other than what he has stated publicly.

Doulgerakis v. Commonwealth, 61 Va. App. 417, 737 S.E.2d 40 (2013)

IN THE COURT OF APPEALS OF VIRGINIA

ARGUED AT RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

ELIAS P. DOULGERAKIS

v.

COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA

Record No. 0458-12-2

Decided: February 5, 2013

Present: Judges Frank, Humphreys and Kelsey

FROM THE CIRCUIT COURT OF HENRICO COUNTY, Gary A. Hicks, Judge

Reversed and dismissed. [Page 418]

COUNSEL

Benjamin R. Rand (Blackburn, Conte, Schilling & Click, P.C., on brief), for appellant.

Steven A. Witmer, Senior Assistant Attorney General (Kenneth T. Cuccinelli, II, Attorney General, on brief), for appellee.

OPINION

FRANK,J. — Elias P. Doulgerakis, appellant, was convicted, in a bench trial, of misdemeanor possession of a concealed weapon in violation of Code § 18.2-308. On appeal, he argues that because the handgun was being possessed within the meaning of Code § 18.2-308(B)(10), his possession of the gun was legal. For the reasons that follow, we reverse his conviction.

BACKGROUND

The facts are not in dispute. On October 28, 2011, Officer L.C. Jones of the Henrico County Police Department stopped appellant for a traffic violation. Officer Jones asked appellant if he had anything in his glove box to cause him concern. Appellant responded that he had a handgun in the glove compartment. The glove box was closed and latched, but not locked. Officer Jones removed the handgun and charged appellant with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. [Page 419]

Code § 18.2-308 makes it unlawful for particular individuals to carry a firearm concealed from common observation. However, subsection (B)(10) of the statute creates an exception by excluding the concealed weapon prohibition from "any person who may lawfully possess a firearm and is carrying a handgun while in a personal, private motor vehicle or vessel and such handgun is secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle or vessel . . . ." It is uncontested that the vehicle in question is a personal, private motor vehicle.

At trial, the Commonwealth argued that the firearm was not "secured" within the meaning of the statute because the gun was readily accessible to appellant for prompt and immediate use, which is precisely what the concealed weapon statute prohibits. The trial court agreed with the Commonwealth's reasoning and found appellant guilty.

This appeal follows.

ANALYSIS

The sole issue on appeal is whether a firearm in an unlocked, but latched, glove box of a private vehicle is "secured in a container or compartment" within the meaning of Code § 18.2-308(B)(10). Appellant argues that it is, and the Commonwealth agrees, conceding error.

On brief, the Commonwealth explains that because of the precise wording of the statute, a handgun need not be in a locked glove compartment to be exempt from the concealed weapon prohibition. Generally speaking, "we are not bound by concessions of law by the parties." Epps v. Commonwealth, 47 Va. App. 687, 703, 626 S.E.2d 912, 919 (2006) (en banc); see also Logan v. Commonwealth, 47 Va. App. 168, 172, 622 S.E.2d 771, 773 (2005) (en banc). Here, however, we agree with the Commonwealth's concession.

"Statutory interpretation is a question of law which we review de novo, and we determine the legislative intent from the words used in the statute, applying the plain meaning of the words unless they are ambiguous or would lead to an [Page 420] absurd result." Wright v. Commonwealth, 278 Va. 754, 759, 685 S.E.2d 655, 657 (2009). The Virginia Supreme Court has long held that "when analyzing a statute, we must assume that ‘the legislature chose, with care, the words it used . . . and we are bound by those words as we interpret the statute.’" City of Virginia Beach v. ESG Enters., 243 Va. 149, 153, 413 S.E.2d 642, 644 (1992) (quoting Barr v. Town & Country Properties, 240 Va. 292, 295, 396 S.E.2d 672, 674 (1990)). "‘Where the legislature has used words of a plain and definite import the courts cannot put upon them a construction which amounts to holding the legislature did not mean what it has actually expressed.’" Tazewell County Sch. Bd. v. Brown, 267 Va. 150, 162, 591 S.E.2d 671, 676-77 (2004) (citation omitted). However, "[l]anguage is ambiguous if it admits of being understood in more than one way or refers to two or more things simultaneously. An ambiguity exists when the language is difficult to comprehend, is of doubtful import, or lacks clearness and definiteness." Brown v. Lukhard, 229 Va. 316, 321, 330 S.E.2d 84, 87 (1985) (citations omitted). In addition, "penal statutes are to be construed strictly against the [Commonwealth and] cannot be extended by implication, or be made to include cases which are not within the letter and spirit of the statute." Wade v. Commonwealth, 202 Va. 117, 122, 116 S.E.2d 99, 103 (1960).

The term "secured" can have several different meanings. The statute does not define the level of security required of the compartment, whether it be locked, fastened, or simply closed. Because "secured" is ambiguous in the context of this particular statute, we are permitted to look to the legislative history of Code § 18.2-308 to determine its meaning.

In 2010, the General Assembly enacted subsection (B)(10) of the amendment exempting the prohibition of concealed handguns from personal vehicles in certain circumstances. History of that amendment indicates that the General Assembly specifically chose to omit the term "locked" from the statute. Initially, the General Assembly adopted the amendment that contained the language that a gun must be "locked in a container or compartment" within the vehicle. However, the [Page 421] Governor's recommended change to the amendment replaced the word "locked" with "secured." Journal of the House of Delegates 1658-59, Reg. Sess. (2010). In accepting the Governor's proposed change, the legislature made it clear that in this amendment, "secured" does not mean "locked." Had the legislature intended for "secured" and "locked" to be synonymous, they would have disregarded the Governor's recommendation and adopted the amendment as originally written. Thus, under the facts presented here, we find that having the gun in a locked glove compartment is not a prerequisite for applying the Code § 18.2-308(B)(10) exemption.

The Supreme Court of Virginia, in Schaaf v. Commonwealth, 220 Va. 429, 258 S.E.2d 574 (1979), explained the rationale of the concealed weapon statute:

"The purpose of the statute was to interdict [noun ~ an authoritative prohibition. "an interdict against marriage of those of close kin" synonyms: prohibition, ban, bar, veto, proscription, interdiction, embargo, moratorium, injunction "they breached an interdict" added by UARF]the practice of carrying a deadly weapon about the person, concealed, and yet so accessible as to afford prompt and immediate use. ‘About the person’ must mean that it is so connected with the person as to be readily accessible for use or surprise if desired."

Id. at 430, 258 S.E.2d at 574-75 (quoting Sutherland v. Commonwealth, 109 Va. 834, 835-36, 65 S.E. 15, 15 (1909)).

The legislature, by adopting the exception relevant here, determined that a weapon "secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle" was not "readily accessible for use or surprise if desired." See Uniwest Constr., Inc. v. Amtech Elevator Servs., Inc., 280 Va. 428, 440, 699 S.E.2d 223, 229 (2010) ("The public policy of the Commonwealth is determined by the General Assembly, for ‘it is the responsibility of the legislature, not the judiciary, . . . to strike the appropriate balance between competing interests . . . . Once the legislature has acted, the role of the judiciary is the narrow one of determining what [it] meant by the words it used in the statute.’" (alteration and omissions in original) (quoting Dionne v. Southeast Foam Converting & Packaging, Inc., 240 Va. 297, 304, 397 S.E.2d 110, 114 (1990))). [Page 422]

That being said, our inquiry becomes one of defining "secure" as contemplated by the General Assembly within the meaning of the statute. "Secured" is defined as "in safekeeping or custody," Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary 1641 (2d ed. 1983), or "well-fastened," The American Heritage Dictionary 1173 (New College Ed. 1982).

The evidence here shows that appellant's handgun was in a closed, latched and "well-fastened" glove compartment. Pursuant to the statute, appellant's gun was "secured in a . . . compartment" in his vehicle, thus reducing his access to the weapon. Because appellant's handgun was in compliance with the exception to the concealed weapon prohibition, his possession of the gun did not violate Code § 18.2-308.

CONCLUSION

For the foregoing reasons, we reverse and dismiss appellant's conviction.

Reversed and dismissed.

The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The American Revolution was fought, in part, to create a system of government in which the Rule of Law would reign supreme. The rule of law is often identified with the old saying that the United States is a nation of laws and not of men. Under the rule of law, the actions of government officials are prescribed by the principles and laws that make up the U.S. legal system and do not reflect the Arbitrary whims and caprices of the government officials themselves.

A distinction is sometimes drawn between power and authority. Law enforcement officers are entrusted with the powers to conduct investigations, to make arrests, and occasionally to use lethal force in the line of duty. But these powers must be exercised within the parameters authorized by the law. Power exercised outside of these legal parameters transforms law enforcers into lawbreakers, as happened when Los Angeles police officer Laurence Powell was convicted for using excessive force against Rodney King, who had been stopped for speeding. Powell repeatedly struck King with his night-stick even though King was in a submissive position, lying prone on the ground.

The Fourth Amendment was intended to create a constitutional buffer between U.S. citizens and the intimidating power of law enforcement. It has three components. First, it establishes a privacy interest by recognizing the right of U.S. citizens to be "secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects." Second, it protects this privacy interest by prohibiting searches and seizures that are "unreasonable" or are not authorized by a warrant based upon probable cause. Third, it states that no warrant may be issued to a law enforcement officer unless that warrant describes with particularity "the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Sad that there are police officers willing to forgo the Rule of Law and ignore our 4th Amendment rights just to make brownie points with the politicians whose agenda they help to thrust upon us.

But there are victories; small, but well worth mentioning. Such as the case in Lockport, New York recently.

HAT TIP TO LOCKPORT CITY JUDGE, William Watson for what the paper reported as "ruling from the bench" - when in fact, the judge was ruling by the U.S. Constitution...

"Lockport [NY] police violated Paul A. Wojdan’s [fourth amendment] constitutional rights by counting the bullets in his gun and charging him with violating New York’s SAFE Act, Lockport City Judge William J. Watson ruled Wednesday," [NY] reports. "Watson dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Wojdan, filed because the magazine of his 9 mm Ruger handgun contained 10 bullets, more than the limit of seven bullets per magazine under the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act." Again, the SAFE Act ammo limit law wasn't at issue. It was the judge’s opinion that the cops executed what was an unreasonable search and seizure. Here’s how it went down . . .

Wojdan was a passenger in a car driven by his wife at about 2 a.m. Oct. 12, when Lt. Adam Piedmont of the Lockport Police Department clocked it going 44 mph in a 30-mph zone on South Transit Street.

The car didn’t stop until Piedmont had followed it for about a mile and a half.

Piedmont was joined by Officer Daniel Barrancotta, who testified that he joined the chase when he heard the siren while waiting in the drive-thru lane at Mighty Taco.

Piedmont said he asked if there were any weapons in the car. Wojdan said there was one in a holster in the glove compartment. His pistol permit was in the center console.

After ordering Wojdan and his wife out of the car, Piedmont said he directed Barrancotta to find the permit and the gun, which the patrolman quickly did. Piedmont then told Barrancotta to "make the gun safe."

"My experience is, the best way to make a gun safe is to remove the magazine," Piedmont testified.

Barrancotta said it was also the only way to check the serial number to match it against the list on the pistol permit. To make sure there was no round in the firing chamber. There wasn't.

There is a row of what Piedmont called "observation holes" in the magazine, each numbered, with bullets visible through the holes.

"In observing the magazine, I did notice there were at least 10 rounds in the magazine," Barrancotta testified. He then emptied the magazine.

"I did count rounds just to confirm our reasonable suspicion that there were more than 10," Piedmont said.

Tresmond said, "Once the magazine is removed from the firearm, the firearm can't fire. At that point in time, the search of the firearm should've ceased. But the officers went further. … It was a search without a warrant."

Assistant District Attorney David A. Hoffman thought the officers’. Action was permissible. He argued, "I think it’s reasonable for them to check the firearm and the magazine. They didn’t seek the number of rounds in it. They did it for officer safety."

Watson ruled from the bench that the officers had a right to ask about weapons, given the prolonged pursuit of the car. "I think the officers had a lawful right to make the weapon safe," Watson added. But when they started counting rounds, they went too far, the judge concluded.

Lockport Police Chief Lawrence M. Eggert said his department’s policies on checking guns will be altered where necessary.

Will only Obama's savage brothers and sons have weapons
Gun Issues New Page 1

The top law enforcement officers from a number of U.S. states joined a national gun rights group in urging the United States Supreme Court to make a clear and precise decision regarding Americans' constitutional rights to defend themselves, their families and their property, according to a national civil rights group on Friday.

This is the weapon that many politicians do not want American citizens to carry outside of their  that many politicians do not want American citizens to carry outside of their  is thThis is the weapon that many politicians do not want American citizens to carry outside of their homes.

Will only Obama's savage brothers and sons have weapons, illegal weapons?

According to the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), the attorneys general of 19 states submitted a joint amicus curiae ("friend of the court") brief in the case of Drake v. Jerejian, requesting that the members of the U.S. Supreme Court make the determination whether or not the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment secures Americans the right to carry handguns outside of their homes for self-defense.

In the amicus brief, penned by Wyoming's Attorney General Peter K. Michael, the 19 attorneys general note that "significant splits of authority have developed in both the federal and state courts as they have tried to answer questions involving the right to keep and bear arms outside of the home,"SAF officials stated.

The Supreme Court case, which has been joined by organizations such as the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, the National Rifle Association, and 34 members of the U.S. Congress, also requests that the high court clarify the standard of review governing Second Amendment claims involving restrictions on the right of law-abiding adults to carry handguns outside the home.

Drake v. Jerejian challenges New Jersey's arbitrary requirement that carry permit applicants demonstrate a "justifiable need" to carry a handgun outside the home, as does several other states and municipalities including New York City.

Wyoming Attorney General Michael is joined by his colleagues in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio,Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia.

"It is significant that so many attorneys general decided to sign on to this important brief," said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. "Their legal experience and understanding of this important constitutional and civil rights issue should carry great weight with the high court."

Gottlieb's organization, based in Bellevue, Wash., is represented by Virginia attorney Alan Gura, who has won both of the significant Supreme Court rulings on the Second Amendment, in 2008 and 2010.

These victories have paved the way for numerous successful challenges of state and local limitations firearm civil rights.

According to Gottlieb and SAF:

"This case is particularly important because of all of the United States Courts of Appeal issuing rulings on the Second Amendment... only the Third Circuit, in this matter, has actually held that the Second Amendment does not secure, or even touch, the right to carry a handgun, 'the quintessential self-defense weapon.' This interpretation is in clear conflict with the decisions of other circuit [courts] and, more importantly, imperils the Second Amendment rights of all citizens.

"The case is a civil rights challenge to New Jersey’s restrictive handgun licensing scheme which allows government officials unchecked discretion in deciding who has shown adequate 'justifiable need' and may therefore exercise their Second Amendment right to carry a firearm for self-defense."

2014 SHOT Show Auction Rifle Sells for $50,825.00
Gun Issues
HENRY

Las Vegas, NV—The auction of a spectacular hand-engraved B. Tyler Henry Tribute rifle attracted crowds as the 2014 SHOT Show Auction Rifle while generating enthusiastic bidding that soared to $50,825.00 on GunBroker.com.

The auction rifle was a presentation grade Original Henry, marking the first production of the Original Henry rifle design in 150 years. The gun was engraved as a tribute to B. Tyler Henry, who designed the iconic rifle in 1860. The engraving featured a likeness of Mr. Henry of the right side of the receiver and a representation of the original factory on the left.

BTH Anthony"We were honored to have this tribute to B. Tyler Henry selected as the 2014 SHOT Show auction rifle and were proud when the bidding reached $50,825 on the final day of the show," announced Henry Repeating Arms CEO, Anthony Imperato. "We are grateful to NSSF for this opportunity, to GunBroker.com for providing extraordinary bidding activity and, of course, to the high bidder who will be adding this special rifle to his collection," Imperato said.

The high bidder, whose name was withheld by request, e-mailed GunBroker.com immediately after the auction, exclaiming, "When I first saw this rifle on GunBroker.com, I knew I wanted it but figured owning it would be impossible. However, the more I looked at the rifle and the quality of the engraving and the more I considered the rifle's history, I knew I had to be the high bidder. I can't explain how excited or proud I am to be the owner of this Henry masterpiece."

The rifle was engraved by the artisans at Baron Engraving in Trumbull, Connecticut. Baron has engraved more SHOT Show auction guns than any other engraver or manufacturer.

BTH GuysThe SHOT Show Auction proceeds will benefit programs in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage. Bob Delfay, President of the Hunting Heritage Trust, presented Mr. Imperato with a brass plaque and framed photograph of the gun in appreciation of Henry's donation of the extraordinary rifle. In presenting the award, Delfay said, "This rifle represents a work of firearms artistry befitting a tribute to B. Tyler Henry and the iconic Henry rifle. Its auction will provide significant support for efforts to foster America's hunting and shooting traditions for future generations."

The 2014 auction marked the 11th consecutive year that the auction was presented exclusively on GunBroker.com, the world's largest internet auction site for firearms and related outdoor equipment.

MUST WATCH: WIFE OF SLAIN NAVY SEAL CHRIS KYLE GIVES HEART-WRENCHING SPEECH AT NRA EVENT

Before Taya Kyle, the wife of slain Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, even said a word, the crowd at the National Rifle Association Leadership Forum was on their feet giving her the longest standing ovation of the day. Just before she took the stage, a video honoring Kyle was shown at the Houston event.

"I challenge anyone to tell me there isn’t evil in this world," Kyle said, her voice drenched in emotion. "From the days of Cain and Abel, we know all too well there will always be evil. But that evil shouldn’t take away our freedoms. In fact, the only way to defeat evil is by taking advantage of our freedoms.

Kyle went on to talk about the side of her husband that people never knew.

"First, promise me that you won’t think of Chris solely as a hero. He wouldn’t want that. Instead, I ask you to see him the way he would’ve wanted you to see him. As just an everyday boy who did his best at what he loved, growing into an everyday man, loving his God, loving his country…and loving his family," she said, wiping a tear from her eye as the audience interrupted her with applause.

The widow talked about her slain husband’s appreciation for guns and insisted that guns do not commit acts of evil, people do.

Though she held up remarkably well while talking about her husband, there were moments when her emotions got the best of her, particularly when she saw a meaningful photo of Chris Kyle riding a horse and wearing a cowboy hat put on the big screen behind her.

spoiled dumbass Reese, the hag Witherspoon make an issue out of non-issue
Gun Issues Annie Hamilton:

Here's some food for thought, something to chew on:
We all have loved ones who drive, spouses, kids, siblings, friends, etc...

Recently I saw one of those Hollywood idiots come out in favor of gun control (I know, yawn, it was Reese, the hag Witherspoon) and it got me thinking..."really?

this stupid girl whose husband was just popped for drunk driving and SHE wasn't driving because she was apparently even drunker than he was?

" so I decided to dig a little and this is what I found: (brace yourselves, kiddies, it's sickening, but informative, glad I checked) numbers for 2011 are as follows (I'll update it when the new stuff comes out)

ALCOHOL RELATED VEHICULAR DEATHS (ALL STATES, ALL TYPES OF ACCIDENTS, ALL ALCOHOL RELATED, ALL AGES) 10,184

DRUG RELATED DEATHS (SOME VEHICULAR, SOME ACCIDENTAL, SOME OVERDOSE, SOME SUICIDAL, ETC) 37,485

(ONLY PRESCRIPTION DRUGS, NOT HARD STREET DRUGS)

GUN DEATHS TOTAL, ALL STATES INCLUDED IN FIGURE: 8,583

By the way, according to the CDC gun deaths represent LESS than 1 % of deaths reported for the entire year and over 95% were committed with unregistered weapons.

Maybe it's time we focused on enforcing the laws we already have on the books rather than dicking around with new laws...and perhaps this silly cheapskate hollywood illiterate (who appears more interested in prancing around with known drunk Chelsea Handler) should educate herself about the dangers of drunk driving and worry a little more about setting a proper example for her three young children.

spoiled dumbass.

Facebook Blocking John F. Kennedy's Pro 2nd Amendment Support ?

It appears to this commentator that it is!

After trying to link the above message/photo/support 4 times to Facebook it does not appear on Facebook.

Censorship?

"By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia', the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms', our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important."

John F. Kennedy, April 1960 (Guns, "Know Your Lawmakers", April 1960, Page 4)

Sen. John F. Kennedy's statement, Know Your Lawmakers, Guns, April 1960, p. 4 (1960):  "By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia,' the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms,' our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy.  Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country.  For that reason I believe the Second Amendment will always be important."

Sen. Hubert Humphrey's statement, Know Your Lawmakers, Guns, Feb. 1960, p. 4 (1960):  "Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.  This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced.  But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."
