Executive Order Needed to Ban All Venezuela's Passports/Visas

Venezuela selling passports to Iraqis, may have sold them to jihadis

Executive Order Needed to Ban All Venezuela's  Passports/Visas

Clearly the Venezuelans didn’t do stringent background checks on those to whom they issued these fraudulent passports, and it would have been easy for jihadis to gain access to the fake passports. Lopez speaks about this operation taking place in the Venezuelan embassy in Iraq. If it was happening there, there is no reason why it couldn’t also have been happening elsewhere, even at home. And Venezuela is just three miles across the water from Trinidad, which has the highest rate of Islamic State recruitment in the Western hemisphere.

Venezuela may have given passports to people with ties to terrorism,” by Scott Zamost, Drew Griffin, Kay Guerrero and Rafael Romo, CNN, February 9, 2017:

The stunning postcard-perfect vista surrounding Misael Lopez in this town about one hour from Madrid belies his constant anxiety, even fear.

That’s because the former legal adviser to the Venezuelan Embassy in Iraq is revealing secrets he says his government doesn’t want disclosed.

“I’m concerned about my safety and my family’s safety everywhere I go,” Lopez said as he walked the cobble-stoned streets of Toledo.

Lopez, 41, says he reported what he says was a scheme to sell passports and visas for thousands of dollars out of the embassy and repeatedly turned down offers to get a cut of the money. But it was the response from his government — which has denied his allegations — that surprised him the most.

CNN and CNN en Español teamed up in a year-long joint investigation that uncovered serious irregularities in the issuing of Venezuelan passports and visas, including allegations that passports were given to people with ties to terrorism. The investigation involved reviewing thousands of documents, and conducting interviews in the U.S., Spain, Venezuela and the United Kingdom.

One confidential intelligence document obtained by CNN links Venezuela’s new Vice President Tareck El Aissami to 173 Venezuelan passports and ID’s that were issued to individuals from the Middle East, including people connected to the terrorist group Hezbollah.

The accusation that the country was issuing passports to people who are not Venezuelan first surfaced in the early 2000s when Hugo Chavez was the country’s president, interviews and records show.

A Venezuelan passport permits entry into more than 130 countries without a visa, including 26 countries in the European Union, according to a ranking by Henley and Partners. A visa is required to enter the United States.

Over the course of the CNN investigation, Lopez provided documents that show he repeatedly told Venezuelan officials about what he discovered. But he said instead of investigating his allegations, the government targeted him for disclosing confidential information. U.S. officials were also made aware of his findings.

“You cannot be a cop, and a thief at the same time,” Lopez said. “I decide to be a cop and do the right thing.”

Doing the right thing has cost him.

Unwelcome surprise

It didn’t start out that way.

Lopez, a lawyer who worked as a police officer in Venezuela, said he thought becoming a diplomat was a great career opportunity, which would also allow him to serve his country. With that in mind, he moved to Baghdad to start his new life at the Venezuelan Embassy.

But, he recalled, he got an unwelcome surprise on his first day in July 2013.

His new boss, Venezuelan Ambassador Jonathan Velasco, gave him a special envelope, he said.

“He gave me an envelope full of visas and passports,” Lopez recalled. “He told me, ‘Get this, this is one million U.S. dollars.’ I thought it was like a joke. Then he told me here people pay a lot of money to get a visa or a passport to leave this country.”

About one month later, Lopez said he realized it was no joke.

An Iraqi employee of the embassy, who was hired to be an interpreter, told him she had made thousands of dollars selling Venezuelan passports and visas, he said. And he could make a lot of money, too.
But Lopez said he told her it was wrong and he refused.

The employee pressed the issue, telling him there were thousands of dollars to be made, he said, even discussing an offer to sell visas to 13 Syrians for $10,000 each.

And, Lopez, said, she told him he could get a cut of the money, too.

Again, he said he refused.

“I suspect it might be terrorists; that’s why I reject, of course, immediately,” Lopez said.

And he said it just got worse.

Lists of names

Lopez said he was stunned when he found a document inside the embassy. It was a list of 21 Arabic names with corresponding Venezuelan passport numbers and Venezuelan identification numbers. A Venezuelan immigration official told CNN that a cross-check of the passport numbers indicated that the passports are valid and match the names on the list Lopez found — meaning the people on the list could be able to travel using those passports.

But incredibly, a publicly available database in Venezuela examined by CNN shows 20 of the 21 identification numbers are registered to people with Hispanic names — not the Arabic names listed on the passports….

U.S. lawmakers heard reports about Venezuelan passport fraud during congressional hearings as far back as 2006. In fact, a congressional report warned, “Venezuela is providing support, including identity documents that could prove useful to radical Islamic groups.”

And a state department report at the time also concluded that “Venezuelan travel and identification documents are extremely easy to obtain by persons not entitled to them.”…

RUSSIANS DISABLE U.S. GUIDED MISSILE DESTROYER

Incident skipped over by the Pentagon-friendly corporate media

by KURT NIMMO | INFOWARS.COM | NOVEMBER 13, 2014

In April of this year, the USS Donald Cook was disabled while on patrol in the Black Sea by an unarmed Russian bomber.

A Russian Su-24 buzzed the ship and “disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the US destroyer. In other words, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked up — or about to be — with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most modern ships was shut down,” reports the Voltaire Network.

The guided missile destroyer represents the cutting edge of U.S. military technology. It carries Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, missiles capable of carrying nuclear explosives. The ship carries 56 Tomahawk missiles in standard mode and 96 missiles in attack mode. It is also equipped with the latest Aegis Combat System.

The Aegis Combat System is an integrated naval weapons system manufactured by Lockheed Martin. It uses sophisticated computer and radar technology to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets.

“The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized ever since their vessel was flown over in the Black Sea by a Russian Sukhoi-24 (Su-24) fighter jet which carried neither bombs nor missiles but only an electronic warfare device.”

Prior to the incident in the Black Sea, the Russian defense ministry complainedabout the deployment of the warship. The ministry said it demonstrated that U.S. antimissile systems in Europe are aimed at undermining Russia’s nuclear deterrent.

Russia has condemned the placement by NATO of a radar in the Czech Republic and ten interceptors in Poland.

Russia is also sending a message in the wake of the United States and NATO decision to confront it over its alleged role in the crisis in Ukraine. This message could not be more blunt – Russia has the capability to shut down the most technologically advanced aspects of the U.S. military machine, including its ability to launch nuclear missiles.

Barack Obama's 'war' on ISIS is a Lie
National Defense Obama Lying to America

Here's how you can tell Barack Obama's 'war' on ISIS is merely a political salve to get him through the Nov. 4 midterm elections:

National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (An F-18 makes a smart delivery.)

Here's how you can tell Barack Obama's 'war' on ISIS is merely a political salve to get him through the Nov. 4 midterm elections:

The military campaign "to degrade and destroy" ISIS has no stirring name. No Operation Enduring Freedom label. No all-time classic Desert Storm.

It might seem like a small PR matter, which it also is. But operational names go in military records and history books, on military ribbons and, most importantly, on specific congressional budget requests.

Right now, there is no specific budget request for Obama's promised long-term effort to "degrade and destroy" ISIS. A tell-tale sign. Given Obama's record on veracity, this would seem to indicate "long-term" in his mind means at least through Nov. 5.

Funds for this campaign are being borrowed from other Pentagon accounts. Can a president have a serious war with no budget and no name? Or will would-be coalition partners take the war's anonymity as confirmation of their existing suspicions about Obama's resolve for anything other than golf and fundraising?

Perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that a president who publicly admitted he had no strategy to address the ISIS terrorist threat a year after being warned about it still has no name for the war he later half-heartedly announced. Even Obama's assault on Ebola in West Africa has a name already -- Operation United Assistance.

Most military operations in recent decades have been given code names: Operation Overlord for the 1944 Normandy invasion. Operation Barbarossa for Nazi Germany's 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union.

Ubiquitous modern media prompted military planners to add a salesman-like PR element, starting with the 1989 ouster of Panama's ruler, Manuel Noriega -- Operation Just Cause.

But more than two months into Obama's occasional Shock-and-Yawn bombing campaign against ISIS' fleet of machine-gun pickup trucks, plus U.S. Humvees and tanks abandoned by fleeing Iraqi government troops, Obama's latest war remains strangely anonymous.

It's almost as if he doesn't want to own or recognize it. You know, he didn't build that.

Julian Barnes of the Wall Street Journal pursued the name issue with military commanders recently. It seems they suggested Operation Inherent Resolve. But higher-ups nixed that as insufficiently Middle Eastern, whatever that means.

Also, it could be taken as a sarcastic comment given Obama's resolve-free bailout from his own red-line chemical weapons threat to Syria.

Since Obama has vowed to deploy absolutely positively no U.S. combat troops in the ISIS fight, he's relying on bombing here-and-there to give the appearance of fighting ISIS. Thus, our favorite name would be Operation Silent Thunder.

Obama's VA scandal: Military vets demand resignation of Secretary Shinseki

Examiner.com

CNN reports that a Veterans Affairs hospital in Phoenix created a secret waiting list to make their statistics look better, hiding more than a thousand sick veterans forced to wait months for a doctor. Why are VA hospitals under so much pressure?

Following the revelations of corrupt -- perhaps illegal -- practices by officials working for theVeterans Administration's Healthcare System, the American Legion -- the largest organization representing American military veterans -- on Monday called for the resignation of Obama appointee Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki.

Statements made by a number of whistleblowers regarding a secret waiting list at the Phoenix VA Health Care System may have resulted in the death of at least 40 U.S. veterans has shocked the nation in spite of the majority of news outlets ignoring or burying the story in order to allegedly prop-up a failed President.

"There are also reports that the director of the Phoenix, Ariz., VA facility kept two sets of records to cover up the fact that brave veterans who sacrificed their all for their nation were being treated shabbily by the Obama administration," according to former U.S. Marine and NYPD police detective Sidney Franes. "I guess that's the 'Chicago way:' keep two sets of books the way the mob bosses do?"

"Imagine the outcry if the terrorists in Guantanamo Bay or illegal aliens -- some of whom are hardened criminals -- were treated the way Obama's VA treats U.S. war heroes," Franes said. "But what do we get from Obama, the Democrats and their sycophants? Silence."

The American Legion National Commander Daniel Dellinger also named Undersecretary of Health Robert Petzel and Undersecretary of Benefits Allison Hickey as Obama appointees who should be forced to resign or be fired.

In 2013, Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, called on Allison Hickey to resign due to problems with the handling of disability claims.

Dellinger pointed to the allegations of the lack of oversight by the Veterans Administration (VA) and its abysmal leadership as evidence that the officials need to resign. Dellinger noted that this call for government officials to resign hasn’t been done by the American Legion in more than 30 years.

“[Gen. Eric Shinseki's] patriotism and sacrifice for this nation are above reproach. However, his record as the head of the Department of Veterans Affairs tells a different story. The existing leadership has exhibited a pattern of bureaucratic incompetence and failed leadership that has been amplified in recent weeks,” said Dellinger.

According to Dellinger, the VA had previously acknowledged that 23 veterans throughout their healthcare system died as a result of delayed care in recent years. However, the findings of an internal probe by VA’s Office of Medical Inspector suggests that "clerks at the VA clinic in Fort Collins, Colo., were instructed last year how to falsify appointment records so it appeared the small staff of doctors was seeing patients within the agency's goal of 14 days, according to the investigation."

Dellinger said in a released statement on Monday:

“These disturbing reports are part of what appear to be a pattern of scandals that has infected the entire system.

“Those problems need addressed [sic] at the highest level – starting with new leadership. The existing leadership has exhibited a pattern of bureaucratic incompetence and failed leadership that has been amplified in recent weeks.

“VA leadership has demonstrated its incompetence through preventable deaths of veterans, long wait times for medical care, a benefits claims backlog numbering in excess of 596,000, and the awarding of bonuses to senior executives who have overseen such operations,” he said. “Some veterans have waited years to have their claims decided. That same leadership has failed to provide answers to why these issues continue to occur.”

Terrorist Paid By Obama to be defense contractors?
National Defense

Pentagon officials hired and paid companies tied to terroristsA report sheds light on a contractor's ties to Afghan terror groups.

Examiner.com

An internal investigation within the Pentagon has uncovered information that the U.S. government has paid more than $150-million to organizations that finance attacks by terrorists against American soldiers serving in Afghanistan, according to an American Political Action Committee (Ameri-Pac) statement released on Wednesday.

Evidence obtained by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), John Sopko, reveals that a contractor, identified by the CENTCOM (Central Command) commanding officer, is financially supporting the Taliban, the Haqqani Network and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and may provide these groups access to a Coalition-controlled facility.

This security lapse seems to have been caused by gaps in how contractor information is shared by U.S. government agencies supporting the reconstruction effort, Sopko reported.

"Unless immediate action is taken to correct this matter, this contractor and other supporters of the insurgency could continue to gain access to U.S.- and Coalition-controlled facilities in Afghanistan. SIGAR uncovered this matter while investigating construction defects at the Parwan Justice Center complex, a project funded jointly by the Departments of State and Defense," Sopko wrote in a confidential letter to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

For example, in June 2011, the Defense Department’s Bagram Regional Contracting Center awarded CLC Construction Company (CLC) a contract to build a courthouse at the Bagram military complex. Sopko claims he began an inspection of the courthouse in May 2013, when he discovered that "U.S. government officials found various problems with the contractor’s work. Inspections found that the courthouse had serious structural deficiencies."

During the course of his investigation, Sopko discovered that CLC hired the Zurmat Material Testing Laboratory (ZMTL), a subsidiary of the Zurmat Group, to conduct various construction safety tests.

"Evidence obtained by SIGAR indicates that for two days in November 2012, employees of ZMTL were given access to the Parwan Justice Center complex. However, these individuals should not have had access to a Coalition-controlled facility, because the U.S. government determined as early as April 2012, that the Zurmat Group poses a threat to U.S. and Coalition forces," he stated in his report to Hagel.

On April 27, 2012, the U.S. Commerce Department had added the Zurmat Group and ZMTL to its list of suspicious groups and individuals because of Zurmat's involvement in providing materials that are considered "dual-purpose" but were actually used to build improvised explosive devices (IEDs) commonly utilized against U.S. and coalition combat troops in Afghanistan.

On September 17, 2012, the CENTCOM commander at the time -- Gen. James N. Mattis -- identified the Zurmat Group and its subsidiaries as actively supporting the insurgency in Afghanistan. Gen. Mattis' designation restricted the Zurmat Group and its subsidiaries from receiving Department of Defense contracts within the CENTCOM theater of operations.

"This lapse in security highlights the immediate need for a simple process to ensure that companies identified as supporters of the insurgency are prevented from accessing U.S.- and Coalition-controlled facilities," said Sopko.

get married - and listen to your wife more
National Defense

Advice for us all:

"Sir, what is one piece of advice you would give to an E-2 like me who would like to be in your shoes someday?"

Greenert smirked: "Are you married?"

"No, sir."

"Then get married - and listen to your wife more."

Top brass takes questions from sailors in Norfolk

They were allowed one question.

One shot to grill the highest-ranking admiral in the Navy - a man responsible for a fleet of warships, hundreds of fighter jets and more than 350,000 service members.

For some of those sailors, Wednesday offered a rare chance to question the four-star chief of naval operations - their boss's boss's boss's boss.

"I want to hear from you," Adm. Jon Greenert told hundreds of sailors inside the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush. He was joined onstage by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Mike Stevens, the service's top enlisted sailor, for what's known in Navy parlance as an "All Hands Call."

"Ask us anything," Greenert said.

They did.

An aviation mechanic wanted to know whether she could change jobs and become a dental hygienist.

Greenert deferred to Stevens, who suggested she speak with her department's career counselor.

A nuclear-trained engineer said she hoped to become an officer and wanted to know how she could speed along the application process.

Again, Stevens suggested she speak with her unit's career counselor.

A seaman apprentice had one that Greenert could answer: "Sir, what is one piece of advice you would give to an E-2 like me who would like to be in your shoes someday?"

Greenert smirked: "Are you married?"

"No, sir."

"Then get married - and listen to your wife more."

With the Bush preparing for a deployment of at least nine months, a young officer asked for advice on how to stay in touch with family members better while at sea.

"Let me tell you, kiddo," Greenert said. "When it comes to today's social media interaction, you know a hell of a lot more about it than I do."

Others came forward with bigger concerns.

Sailor: How does Obamacare affect service members and retirees?

Greenert: It doesn't.

Sailor: Will Obama hold to his word on Syria?

Greenert: The Navy is providing the credible threat needed to force action on chemical weapons.

Sailor: Will sailors be allowed to opt out of mandatory alcohol screenings?

Greenert (appearing perplexed): I'll have to get back to you.

The admiral dedicated his opening remarks to the two big current issues: budget cuts and the Pentagon's efforts to crack down on sexual assault.

On the first, Greenert promised to do everything in his power to protect service members' pay and benefits. On the second, one sailor stepped forward seeking clarity.

"You mentioned earlier about sexual assault, and I heard in the news that Congress is trying to get service members to serve jail time if they are convicted. Do you know if that is still an ongoing debate?"

Greenert responded with grace.

"Right now, service members can get jail time, and many do, for sexual assault. That concept is not new."

After a few more queries - there was time for about 15 in all - Greenert was on to his next appointment: a news conference with a gaggle of reporters.

A much different set of questions awaited.

Congressional leaders agree on drastic response to al Qaeda terrorist threat reads the headline in the Washington Times.  What is so drastic about an old dog that put its tail between its legs and runs off to hide at the sound of thunder.

Its not such a drastic response to the treat and allows the threat to continue and sets the U.S. into a motion that is akin to the old dog that hears thunder and responds by at putting its tail between its legs and running off and hiding.

Scorched earth is the only solution to this problem.

Any country that allows | fails to stop al Qaeda operations in its borders needs to be subject to a scorched earth policy.

Scorched by nukes that will kill off the residents of that nation.

No live people no threats, no base of operations.

Applying collateral damages rules of engagement only allows the terrorist to continue to operate.

Simply, a rat trap kills only one rat at a time, the rat at the trap.

This allows all the other rats in the area to continue to operate. Our tactics [rules of engagement] with moslem terrorist operates the same way, it allows the terrorist not within the trap to continue to operate. Scorched earth is a very successful policy, it got rid of the black plague and its cause the rat/fleas and the virus that carried the plague.

The Black Death/Plague was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, killing an estimated 75 to 200 million people and peaking in Europe in the years 1348–50 CE.

Although there were several competing theories as to the etiology of the Black Death, recent analysis of DNA from victims in northern and southern Europe indicates that the pathogen responsible was the Yersinia pestis bacterium, probably causing several forms of plague.

The Black Death is thought to have started in China or central Asia. It then traveled along the Silk Road and reached the Crimea by 1346. From there, it was most likely carried by Oriental rat fleas living on the black rats that were regular passengers on merchant ships. Spreading throughout the Mediterranean and Europe, the Black Death is estimated to have killed 30–60% of Europe's total population. All in all, the plague reduced the world population from an estimated 450 million down to 350–375 million in the 14th century.

The aftermath of the plague created a series of religious, social, and economic upheavals, which had profound effects on the course of European history. It took 150 years for Europe's population to recover. The plague reoccurred occasionally in Europe until the 19th century.

Is Petaeus mad? Will he get even with Obama?
National Defense

"Don’t get mad, get even."

When the CIA gets even, it isn’t pretty.

Thomas Lipscomb Notes:

This is the equivalent of the sound a Claymore mine detonator makes when first activated by its tripwire.

If Petraeus is talking... and this is his KEY opportunity at rehab..... OBAMA is in serious trouble.

(this is a throwaway by the editor of the Drudge Report no one will notice in the Washington Times today)

Call it "Oval Office Couch Syndrome.

"SPECIAL COVERAGE: Benghazi Attack Under Microscope

By their second term "inside the bubble," presidents have completely lost touch with reality: Aides and confidants conspire to keep the chief executive insulated from the real world — the bad news, the worse press coverage.

They think it’s their job, and lounging on the Oval Office couches, they nod along with the president’s every musing.

But this presidency has taken OOCS to new heights.

Mr. Obama has only a few trusted aides, and occasional leaks from the West Wing show a paranoid president suspicious of nearly everyone around him.

Supremely confident, convinced by the fawning minions at his feet that he is untouchable, the president dismisses all controversy as partisan attacks by an overzealous opposition.

A pliant press corps of stenographers follows in lockstep.

Not surprisingly, every president in the past 60 years has had a major scandal in Term 2:

Dwight Eisenhower had the U-2 "incident";

Richard Nixon had Watergate;

Ronald Reagan had Iran-Contra;

Bill Clinton had Monica (literally);

George W. Bush had Katrina (and let’s not forget those WMDs that never turned up);

and now, this president has Benghazi.

Make no mistake: Benghazi is a major scandal.

Benghazi is a scandal before, during and after the terrorist attack that left four Americas dead, including an ambassador.

For months before, there were warnings about weak security at the U.S. Consulate in Libya; no one paid attention.

During the attack, when Americans were begging for help, the White House ignored their pleas, sent no help.

And after?

That’s when the Obama scandal [set up by Hillary? And will it come back to bite her in the ass?] falls into the predictable second-term pattern his predecessors all learned the very hard way.

Faced with a crisis, the Obama White House panicked.

"We can’t have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day, so … let’s not have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day."

Cue the Cover-Up.

So little is known about what happened in Benghazi: Where was the commander in chief that night?

No pictures from the Situation Room this time.

Why didn’t the Pentagon authorize a quick-response team to swoop in?

Members of the military say they were ready — burning — to go.

The call came in: Stand down. Let them die.

There were dozens of witnesses to the attack that night:

Where are they?

What do they know?

What really happened that night?

And who forced the heavy-handed redactions of those infamous "talking points," the ones that sent Mr. Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations onto the Sunday talk shows to declare that the attack was just the culmination of a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video posted on YouTube?

Carnival barker Jay Carney looked almost ashen Friday as he took the podium to face a suddenly invigorated press corps.

Of course, the public briefing came after a private session with "reporters who matter," a sure sign the White House is in full hunker-down mode — and, more precisely, terrified.

"Again," one newly curious reporter asked, "what role did the White House play, not just in making but in directing changes that took place to these?"

"Well," the Carney said, "thank you for that question.

The way to look at this, I think, is to start from that week and understand that in the wake of the attacks in Benghazi, an effort was underway to find out what happened, who was responsible [talk about a lot of words with no meaning, yes he said something, but what, yes he responded but with what?  Look at it this way. You are invited out to dinner, you order a fine soup, After awaiting a time with patience the waiter brings you a bowl of water, cold water at that.  You ask what is this, and the waiter says, "well you have your water, a base element of the soup as soon as we can find the fixings on the shelves that we want to use we will get around to making your soup."].

In response to a request from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to the CIA, the CIA began a process of developing points [looking for the fixings] that could be used in public by members of Congress, by members of that committee.

And that process, as is always the case — again, led by the CIA — involved input from a variety of …"Enough. You get the point: Full Spin Cycle.

Speaking for the White House, the flack said the CIA was fully to blame for the talking points.

Fully. "That is what was generated by the intelligence community, by the CIA," he said.

For the record, this is what the CIA "generated":

"Since April, there have been at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi by unidentified assailants."

That line was stricken: Everything was fine there — fine fine fine.

And: "We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to Al Qaeda participated in the attack."

That line, too, was deleted by … someone.

Instead, this was inserted:

"There are indications that extremists participated in the violent demonstrations."

Despite protestations by the White House, this scandal is just beginning. [Who is coming forward with the blue dress with Obama's stains?]

And the White House has picked a very bad scapegoat: the Central Intelligence Agency.

The CIA follows RFK’s edict: "Don’t get mad, get even."

And when the CIA gets even, it isn’t pretty.

With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back.

Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration.

Mad and intent on getting even, he’s already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were "useless" and that he preferred not to use them at all.

The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.

A warning to those West Wing sycophants suffering from acute OOCS: Don’t walk down any dark alleys.

Revisiting Sandy Hook Via North Korea
National Defense Sand Hook revisited in North Korea

North Korea Declared War and No One Noticed!!!

Fast Boat Kerry didn't notice

Disbarred Obama [AKA the PREZ] didn't notice

REID didn't notice

McCain didn't notice

Nancy P didn't notice

No one paid attention in Sandy Hook when that raving mental case  went about freely with access to lethal weapons.

A lot of people died because he was ignored and proper steps were not taken to protect the people from the mentally ill child.  Now we have a mentally ill markist child with lethal weapons and we are told not to worry.

Damn. I am worried !

Revisiting Sandy Hook Via North Korea

The Korean Central News Agency ran an English language version of a "Special Statement." Highlights added by NightWatch.

"The government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK released the following special statement on Saturday: The moves of the U.S. imperialists to violate the sovereignty of the DPRK and encroach [a period of time marked by particular events or characteristics. 2 the beginning of a period of history.] upon its supreme interests have entered an extremely grave phase…." [maybe the Koreans have a point?]

"The important decision made by him is the declaration of a do-or-die battle to provide an epochal occasion for putting an end to the history of the long-standing showdown with the U.S. and opening a new era…."

"They should clearly know that in the era of Marshal Kim Jong Un, the greatest-ever commander, all things are different from what they used to be in the past."

The hostile forces will clearly realize the iron will, matchless grit and extraordinary mettle of the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu that the earth cannot exist without Songun Korea."

"Time has come to stage a do-or-die final battle."

"The government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK solemnly declare as follows reflecting the final decision made by Kim Jong Un at the operation meeting of the KPA Supreme Command and the unanimous will of all service personnel and people of the DPRK who are waiting for a final order from him."

"1. From this moment, the north-south relations will be put at the state of war and all the issues arousing between the north and the south will be dealt with according to the wartime regulations. "

"The state of neither peace nor war has ended on the Korean Peninsula."

"Now that the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK have entered into an actual military action, the inter-Korean relations have naturally entered the state of war. "

"Accordingly, the DPRK will immediately punish any slightest provocation hurting its dignity and sovereignty with resolute and merciless physical actions without any prior notice."

"2. If the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group perpetrate a military provocation for igniting a war against the DPRK in any area including the five islands in the West Sea of Korea or in the area along the Military Demarcation Line, it will not be limited to a local war, but develop into an all-out war, a nuclear war. "

"It is self-evident that any military conflict on the Korean Peninsula is bound to lead to an all-out war, a nuclear war now that even U.S. nuclear strategic bombers in its military bases in the Pacific including Hawaii and Guam and in its mainland are flying into the sky above South Korea to participate in the madcap DPRK-targeted nuclear war moves. …"

"3. The DPRK will never miss the golden chance to win a final victory in a great war for national reunification."

"This war will not be a three day-war but it will be a blitz war through which the KPA will occupy all areas of South Korea including Jeju Island at one strike, not giving the U.S. and the puppet warmongers time to come to their senses, and a three-dimensional war to be fought in the air, land and seas and on the front line and in the rear." ['only if the north survives a nuke first strike by the south, the is the only way this war can be successfully waged.  What chance does the south have for surviving the atomic fallout of such a war.  Surely if this commentator sees this the north and all of its wisdom is keenly aware of this.  Neither side can win this.]  What we have is a bloated (physically obese) member of the over indulged marxist ruling class that had been pleasuring himself [mental masturbation] at the foot of his father, a person unlike the rest of his countrymen, that has not wanted for food, shelter, warmth, etc..

Comments on the statement: This statement was issued by civilian authorities and appears to be a complement to yesterday's statement by the Supreme Command. The tone is frenzied. The content is exaggerated and the accusations are simply false.

The assertion that issues will be handled according to wartime regulations makes no sense, unless it means under a flag of truce, which the North Korean leaders eliminated earlier this month.

There follows the circular reasoning that the civil authorities naturally are following unspecified wartime regulations "naturally" because the armed forces have taken actual military action. This sentence seems almost apologetic.

It also confuses preparations for military action and training with real military action, as most nations understand the term.

However, even the North Korean generals [skilled in the  warring arts] know that no actual military action has taken place, except in the lexicon of North Korean propagandists, at their worst.

As with all prior statements, special or not, the North continues to talk about retaliation. The language in this special statement more clearly than the other announcements contains an implied invitation, if not an implied plea, for the South to start a provocation so Kim can show he is doing something different. Doing something different is almost an obsession in the backdrop of all the actions since mid-February.

The North wants the US and the South to fire the first shot.

Item 2 specifies what looks like the preferred theater for the provocation.

Artillery practice from the South Korean-held Offshore Islands will lead to general war.

The threat of annihilation is always conditioned on a provocation started by the Allies.

The so-called [obese] brilliant commander does not know how to walk back from full combat readiness and probably is afraid to do so with nothing to show for it but huge expense and wasted resources.

General comment: The septuagenarian [a person who is between 70 and 79 years old] vice marshals and generals who control the armed forces might see this as their last chance to win the Korean War before they die. But they are afraid to fire the first shot.

The North is running out of superlatives, imagination and language to ratchet up tension.

It keeps yelling insults but not one is taking offense, nor should anyone. [No one paid attention in Sandy Hook when that raving mental case  went about freely with access to lethal weapons.  A lot of people died because he was ignored and proper steps were not taken to protect the people from the mentally ill marxist child.   Now we have a mentally ill markist child with lethal weapons and we are told not to worry.]

This statement looks like a childish rant or manic frenzy. [No one paid attention in Sandy Hook when that raving mental case  went about freely with access to lethal weapons.  A lot of people died because he was ignored and proper steps were not taken to protect the people from the mentally ill marxist child  Now we have a mentally ill markist child with lethal weapons and we are told not to worry.]

No one, not even North Korean leaders, can take seriously the accusations that the Allies have attacked the North or attempted to invade or attempted to destroy monuments.

The North Koreans leaders NightWatch has met and studied do not talk or behave that way and they are still in power.

Whoever in the propaganda department drafted this statement has a poor command of English and seems to know little about the military history.

Everything that the North is now decrying so shrilly has taken place more than once in the past 60 years, including long range bombing missions from the continental US.

The propaganda people are making Kim Jong Un look foolish outside North Korea.

But it is equally clear that much of this rhetoric is aimed at the North Korean people.

In past years, at the end of March both Koreas would be standing down for spring planting after a vigorous winter training cycle.

The US', European, & Russian demands in the past that Israel sit on its hindquarter while [1] Israel was threatened by rocket attacks, and [2] its neighbors developed weapons of mass destruction that could destroy Israel,  must now be called into question as Israel successfully takes out Syrian/ Hezbollah convoy.

****************

Here is what the Daily News says with our commentary/questions in []s.

Mouse Over the Daily Mail Logo & Click for Full Story

Israel launched a rare airstrike inside Syria, U.S. officials [who are the officials and at what level of government?] said Wednesday, targeting a convoy believed to contain anti-aircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah [Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that operates without borders and with the blessings of the moslem governments of the middle east which all have as a objective the destruction of Israel?] militants in Lebanon.

The attack adds a potentially flammable new element to tensions already heightened by Syria's civil war.

It was the latest salvo in Israel's long-running effort to disrupt the Shiite militia's quest [So which is it Hezbollah, or the Shitite militia's convoy (are they one and the same) that Israel's warplanes took out?] to build an arsenal capable of defending [Is is defending or attacking?  And why does a non-nation need weapons to defend itself?  The same logic could be applied to allowing the KKK to have fully automatic weapons, etc. in the US to defend itself against, Blacks, Catholics, and Jews which never attack the Klan at  the outset.] against Israel's air force and spreading destruction inside the Jewish state.

Regional security officials [Who in the world are the officials, where are they from?] said the strike, which occurred overnight Tuesday, targeted a site near the Lebanese border, while a Syrian army statement said it destroyed a military research center northwest of the capital, Damascus.

They appeared to be referring to the same incident [Who said this and where is the evidence that can be examined/cross examined?].

U.S. officials [What officials and at what level?] said the target was a truck convoy that Israel believed was carrying sophisticated anti-aircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon [This is not a proper military objective, taking out weapons designed to take you out?  Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that operates without borders and with the blessings of the moslem governments of the middle east which all have as a objective the destruction of Israel?].

They [Who is they?] spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the operation [How did they come to be in possession of such knowledge?].

Regional officials [Whoa are these regional officials?] said the shipment included sophisticated Russian-made SA-17 anti-aircraft missiles, which if acquired by Hezbollah [Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that operates without borders and with the blessings of the moslem governments of the middle east which all have as a objective the destruction of Israel?] would be 'game-changing', enabling the militants to shoot down Israeli jets, helicopters and surveillance drones.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

In a statement, the Syrian military denied the existence of any such shipment and said a scientific research facility outside Damascus was hit by the Israeli warplanes.

The Israeli military declined to comment.

However, many in Israel worry that as Syrian President Bashar Assad loses power, he could strike back by transferring chemical or advanced weapons to Hezbollah, which is neighboring Lebanon's most powerful military force and is committed to Israel's destruction.

Russia has expressed concern at an alleged Israeli attack on Syria, saying such a strike would be an unacceptable violation of the UN Charter [And does that same UN charter allow Syria allow  to provide a terrorist organization  that operates without borders and with the blessings of the moslem governments of the middle east which all have as a objective the destruction of Israel?] .

Russia has steadfastly refused to denounce Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the 22-month conflict that has killed more than 60,000 people.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said: 'If this information [What information, that Syria is providing a terrorist organization with weapons?] is confirmed, then we are dealing with unprovoked attacks on targets on the territory of a sovereign country [That is providing Hezbollah, a terrorist organization, that operates without borders and with the blessings of the moslem governments of the middle east which all have as a objective the destruction of Israel with weapons of mass destruction], which blatantly violates the UN Charter [Israel attacked a terrorist organization transporting weapons of mass destruction.] and is unacceptable, no matter the motives to justify it.'

The airstrike follows decades of enmity [enmity >noun (pl. enmities) the state of being an enemy; hostility.
-ORIGIN Old French enemistie, from Latin inimicus 'enemy' (use of enmity here appears to this commentator to be an  inappropriate use of the word as the Daily Mail does not clearly set up the parties that are enemies is the sequence of its words.] between Israel and allies Syria and Hezbollah, which consider the Jewish state their mortal enemy

The situation has been further complicated by the civil war raging in Syria between the Assad regime and rebel brigades seeking his ouster.

The war has sapped Assad's power and threatens to deprive Hezbollah of a key supporter, in addition to its land corridor to Iran.

The two countries [Syria & Iran] provide Hezbollah with the bulk of its funding and arms.

A Syrian military statement read aloud on state TV Wednesday said low-flying Israeli jets crossed into Syria over the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and bombed a military research center in the area of Jamraya, northwest of Damascus.

The strike destroyed the center and damaged a nearby building, killing two workers and wounding five others, the statement said.

The military denied the existence of any convoy bound for Lebanon, saying the center was responsible for 'raising the level of resistance and self-defense' of Syria's military.

'This proves that Israel is the instigator, beneficiary and sometimes executor of the terrorist acts targeting Syria and its people,' the statement said.

Israel and Hezbollah fought an inconclusive 34-day war in 2006 that left 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis dead.

While the border has been largely quiet since, the struggle has taken other forms.

Hezbollah has accused Israel of assassinating a top commander, and Israel blamed Hezbollah and Iran for a July 2012 attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria [Syria and via proxy via Hezbollah operates a terrorist organization outside its borders].

In October, Hezbollah launched an Iranian-made reconnaissance drone over Israel, [again he have a terrorist organization using the resources of  sovereign nations (Syria/Iran) to carry out terrorist activities by those nations]   using the incident to brag about its expanding capabilities.

Israeli officials believe that Hezbollah's arsenal has markedly improved since 2006, now boasting tens of thousands of rockets and missiles and the ability to strike almost anywhere inside Israel.

Israel suspects that Damascus obtained a battery of SA-17s from Russia after an alleged Israeli airstrike in 2007 that destroyed an unfinished Syrian nuclear reactor.

Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of the dangers of Syria's 'deadly weapons,' saying the country is 'increasingly coming apart.'

The same day, Israel moved a battery of its new 'Iron Dome' rocket defense system to the northern city of Haifa, which was battered by Hezbollah rocket fire in the 2006 war.

The Israeli army called that move 'routine'.

Syria, however, cast the airstrike in a different light, linked to the country's civil war, which it blames on terrorists carrying out an international conspiracy.

Despite its icy relations with Assad, Israel has remained on the sidelines of efforts to topple him, while keeping up defenses against possible attacks.

Israeli defense officials have carefully monitored Syria's chemical weapons, fearing Assad could deploy them or lose control of them to extremist fighters among the rebels.

Mullah Barack Obama has called the use of chemical weapons a 'red line' that if crossed could prompt direct U.S. intervention [like Obama is going to do anything to his fellow moslems for attacking his mortal enemies, the Jews], though U.S. officials have said Syria's stockpiles still appear to be under government control [are these the same officals that will not account for the Iraq Fast and Furious operation with Turkey that led to the death of four Americans?].

The strike was Israel's first inside Syria since September 2007, when warplanes destroyed a site that the U.N. nuclear watchdog deemed likely to be a nuclear reactor.

Syria denied the claim, saying the building was a non-nuclear military site.

A rebel fighter stands in front of a building after they took over the village of Aljanodiya following fighting against pro-Syrian regime forces, yesterday Syria allowed international inspectors to visit the bombed site in 2008, but it has refused to allow nuclear inspectors new access.

This has heightened suspicions that Syria has something to hide, along with its decision to level the destroyed structure and build on its site.

In 2006, Israeli warplanes flew over Assad's palace in a show of force after Syrian-backed militants captured an Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip.

And in 2003, Israeli warplanes attacked a suspected militant training camp just north of the Syrian capital, in response to an Islamic Jihad suicide bombing in the city of Haifa that killed 21 Israelis.

Syria vowed to retaliate for both attacks but never did.

In Lebanon, which borders both Israel and Syria, the military and the U.N. agency tasked with monitoring the border with Israel said Israeli warplanes have sharply increased their activity in the past week.

Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace are not uncommon, and it was unclear if the recent activity was related to the strike in Syria.

Syria's primary conflict with Israel is over the Golan Heights, which Israeli occupied in the 1967 war.

Syria demands the area back as part of any peace deal.

Despite the hostility, Syria has kept the border quiet since the 1973 Mideast war and has never [actively] retaliated for Israeli attacks [but is doing so constantly via Hezbollah .

In May 2011, only two months after the uprising against Assad started, hundreds of Palestinians overran the tightly controlled Syria-Israeli frontier in a move widely thought to have been facilitated by the Assad regime to divert the world's gaze from his growing troubles at home.

Another Obama Fast and Furious Operation

Secretary insists she did not know about gun-running at U.S. mission

During the Senate hearing on Benghazi yesterday, outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed she did not know whether the U.S. special mission attacked on Sept. 11 was involved in gun-running.

The remarks were perhaps the most important and telling of the entire hearing since they address a possible motive behind the jihadist attacks.

Yet Clinton’s answers were largely unreported by U.S. news media.

The exchange on the subject took place with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

Paul asked Clinton: "Is the U. S. involved with any procuring of weapons, transfer of weapons, buying, selling, anyhow transferring weapons to Turkey out of Libya?

"To Turkey?" Clinton asked. "I will have to take that question for the record. Nobody has ever raised that with me."

Continued Paul: "It’s been in news reports that ships have been leaving from Libya and that may have weapons, and what I’d like to know is the annex that was close by, were they involved with procuring, buying, selling, obtaining weapons, and were any of these weapons being transferred to other countries, any countries, Turkey included?"

Clinton replied, "Well, senator, you’ll have to direct that question to the agency that ran the annex. I will see what information is available."

"You’re saying you don’t know?" asked Paul.

"I do not know," Clinton said. "I don’t have any information on that."

That section of the exchange with Paul was almost entirely ignored by media, which instead focused on the Republican senator’s earlier statement that if he were president he would have relieved Clinton of her post.

WND has filed numerous reports quoting Middle East security officials who describe the mission in Benghazi as a meeting place to coordinate aid for the rebel-led insurgencies in the Middle East.

In September, WND also broke the story that the slain U.S. ambassador, Christopher Stevens, played a central role in recruiting jihadists to fight Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, according to Egyptian security officials.

In November, Middle Eastern security sources further described both the U.S. mission and nearby CIA annex in Benghazi as the main intelligence and planning center for U.S. aid to the rebels that was being coordinated with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Many rebel fighters are openly members of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida.

Among the tasks performed inside the building was collaborating with countries, most notably Turkey, on the recruitment of fighters – including jihadists – to target Assad’s regime, the security officials said.

According to the 39-page report released last month by independent investigators probing the attacks at the diplomatic facility, the U.S. mission in Benghazi was set up without the knowledge of the new Libyan government, as WND reported.

"Another key driver behind the weak security platform in Benghazi was the decision to treat Benghazi as a temporary, residential facility, not officially notified to the host government, even though it was also a full-time office facility," the report states. "This resulted in the Special Mission compound being excepted from office facility standards and accountability under the Secure Embassy Construction and Counterterrorism Act of 1999 (SECCA) and the Overseas Security Policy Board (OSPB)."

The report, based on a probe led by former U.S. diplomat Thomas Pickering, calls the facility a "Special U.S. Mission."

During the Libyan revolution against Moammar Gadhafi’s regime, the U.S. admitted to directly arming the rebel groups.

At the time, rebel leader Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi acknowledged in an interview that a significant number of the Libyan rebels were al-Qaida fighters, many of whom had fought U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but he added that the "members of al-Qaida are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader."

Media cover up?

From the beginning, U.S. media reports on the events in Benghazi have been misleading.

The vast majority of media coverage worldwide refers to the U.S. facility that was attacked as a "consulate," even though the government itself has been careful to call it a "mission."

A consulate typically refers to the building that houses a consul, who is the official representative of the government of one state in the territory of another. The U.S. consul in Libya, Jenny Cordell, works out of the embassy in Tripoli.

Consulates at times function as junior embassies, providing services related to visas, passports and citizen information.

On Aug. 26, about two weeks before his was killed, Ambassador Stevens attended a ceremony marking the opening of consular services at the Tripoli embassy.

The main role of a consulate is to foster trade with the host and care for its own citizens who are traveling or living in the host nation.

Diplomatic missions, on the other hand, maintain a more generalized role. A diplomatic mission is simply a group of people from one state or an international inter-governmental organization present in another state to represent matters of the sending state or organization in the receiving state.

However, according to the State Department investigation, the building was a "U.S. Special Mission" set up without the knowledge of the Libyan government.

Withholding, misleading

Two days before the November presidential election, CBS posted additional portions of a Sept. 12 "60 Minutes" interview in which Obama made statements that contradicted his earlier claims about the attack.

In the released portions of the interview, Obama would not say whether he thought the attack was terrorism. Yet he would later emphasize at a presidential debate that in the Rose Garden on the day of the attack, he had declared it an act of terror.

Reuters was also implicated by WND for possibly false reporting.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, Reuters quoted a purported civilian protester by his first name who described a supposedly popular demonstration against an anti-Muhammad film outside the U.S. building.

Immediately following the attack, President Obama and other White House officials claimed anti-American sentiment fueled by the obscure anti-Muhammad video on YouTube sparked civilian protests outside the U.S. mission that devolved into a jihadist onslaught.

However, vivid accounts provided by the State Department and intelligence officials later made clear no such popular demonstration took place. Instead, video footage from Benghazi reportedly shows an organized group of armed men attacking the compound, officials said.

China has entered a critical phase in its rapid military expansion — and it is flexing its muscle for the world to see.

China just announced that it has succeeded in landing a J-15 fighter on an aircraft carrier, a milestone most experts didn’t expect the Chinese military to achieve for several years.

Gordon G. Chang, an expert on Asian geopolitics, tells LIGNET, the global intelligence and forecasting service, that China is becoming desperate as a result of its deteriorating economy and the desire to claim more land.

Chang also believes the “military is starting to break free of civilian control.” He calls this “a very, very troublesome event.”

Is this just the beginning of China’s aggressive attempt to position itself as a global military superpower?

As the Obama administration prepares to announce the replacement for Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, this looms as a critically important question.

On Tuesday, Dec. 4, LIGNET will hold an emergency briefing on the escalating tensions between the United States and China.

Leading the intelligence panel will be former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who recently served as U.S. ambassador to China.

We strongly encourage you to join this urgent LIGNET briefing Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. EST to discover how this new China could have dire consequences for America and inescapable economic ramifications.

Two Stars in Petraeus Scandal Lawyer Up with D.C. Attorneys
National Defense editor writes "Two Stars in Petraeus Scandal Lawyer Up with D.C. Attorneys

Updated 5:26 p.m.

Lawyer up – that's what two of the central characters embroiled in the David Petraeus scandal have done. But what are the best practices for attorneys and public relations officials when representing clients in high-profile matters like this?

Robert Bennett, the Hogan Lovells partner who represented President Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, said in an interview that in situations like this, it's best to put all the facts out at once rather than drag on the story for multiple days.

"The primary rule is to get it out and get it all out," Bennett said. He likened the media frenzy that often surrounds scandals like this to Count Dracula. "He needs blood every day," Bennett said.

By not revealing all the facts, Bennett said, the press and public begin to question if the parties are hiding something.

Two other D.C. lawyers soon will be testing this theory.

As reported by National Law Journal sibling publication Am Law Daily, Chadbourne & Parke partner Abbe Lowell in D.C. is representing Jill Kelley, the Tampa, Fla. socialite enmeshed in the scandal involving Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell. Kelley allegedly received harassing emails from Broadwell.

Robert Muse, a partner at Stein, Mitchell, Muse & Cipollone in Washington, is representing Broadwell, according to reports.

Both Lowell and Muse have previously represented clients in the national spotlight. Lowell has represented a laundry list of governors, senators and representatives, most recently former Senator John Edwards during his trail earlier this year. Muse's colleague, Jacob Stein, as noted by ABC News, represented Lewinsky.

Neither Lowell nor Muse immediately returned calls for comment.

"Without commenting on what [Petraeus] should specifically do, he should as quickly as possible be going on television or sitting down with a reporter, and give the tick tock of what happened and when," said Lanny Davis, an attorney and crisis management consultant in D.C. If there is a potential legal question, Davis said Petraeus could decline to answer based on the advice of his attorney.

Davis, previously special counsel to Clinton, said that it's important to tread carefully when using a public relations specialist because they are not entitled to any attorney client privilege.

When news broke that Petraeus would step down as head of the Central Intelligence Agency on Friday, he also revealed that it was due to his affair with Broadwell. The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Petraeus would likely not face a court martial because, while still under the jurisdiction of the military, he is not active personnel.

As of yet, there are no reports of who is representing Petraeus in a legal capacity.

"I don't know that he is being represented," Bennett said. "It looks to me like Petraeus has handled this well.""
